A Clinton man was arrested and charged with second degree kidnapping and assault on a female after a desperate escape by a woman, reported to be his girlfriend, during a traffic stop over the weekend.
Ivol Marel Meza Colman, 24, of Seven Gables Trailer Park, Clinton, was arrested for second degree kidnapping and assault on a female and placed under a $100,000 bond.
According to reports, officers with the Clinton Police Department stopped a vehicle Saturday evening for speeding. Inside was a host of people, including Colman and his alleged girlfriend, Mylena Inestroza, 20.
As the vehicle came to a stop, reports show Inestroza leapt from the vehicle and ran to police for help. Through an interpreter, she explained the reason for her escape. She told police Colman has held her against her will for the previous 16-18 hours at a relative’s home located on North Peavine Road.
She reportedly told police that, at one point, she attempted to leave the home, only to be assaulted by Colman.
Hours later, Inestroza, Colman and others got in the vehicle and headed to visit a friend in Clinton.
When police stopped the vehicle for speeding, Inestroza made her move and jumped out to police for help.
Colman’s trial date will be Aug. 7.
It is unclear if any of the other passengers in the vehicle were aware of Inestroza’s predicament, according to officials at the Sampson County Sheriff’s Department.
