A Garland man, who was recently convicted of a firearm felony, was arrested again Wednesday night and placed under a $100,000 bond.

Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kaleef Jonathan Johnson, 24, of 224 West 7th St., Garland, and charged him with possession with intent to sell/distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon and manufacturing marijuana. Reports show that Johnson had 9.8 grams of marijuana in his possession. He was taken into custody on Wildcat Road, near Clinton, Wednesday evening.

According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Johnson was released from jail on April 17 after a three-year, 11-month stint stemming from a previous possession of a firearm by a felon charge in May 2006.

Johnson also has previous convictions of possession of a firearm by a felon (February 2005); possession of a scheduled VI controlled substance, resisting an officer and second degree trespassing (all in September 2004); assault by pointing a gun (October 2005) and a jail escape (January 2006) among others convictions dating back to 2001.

On Wednesday evening, Johnson was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center. His trial date will be Aug. 7.
