I can’t believe how quickly the last two months have flown by… there is only one more trail left in our Walking Trail Tour and we would like to cordially invite you to be one of the first to come and check out the nearly completed Western District Park walking trail! Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 12th at 9:30 am to join Ali Noll Turpen and I for an educational walking tour of the new Western District Park located on West Clinton Street in Roseboro.
One more thing to mention, since we are coming to an end with our walking trail tour, I wanted to remind you as to why we began this walking trail tour series. Some of you may remember hearing or participating in “Walking Across Sampson County Day.” Well, this tour was to create awareness of walking trails as a convenient and very beneficial means of exercise, but it was also to promote this year’s upcoming event “Walk Across Sampson County Day 2009.” Help us make this year a success by participating or volunteering for the Sampson County Partners for Healthy Carolinians and make this years “Walk Across Sampson County Day” an event to remember!
For more information please contact Ali Noll Turpen, Director of Sampson County Parks and Recreation at 910.299.0924 or Veronica Murphy, Public Health Educator II with the Sampson County Health Department at 910.592.1131 extension #4239.
This Week’s Tip:
Motivation is what keeps you moving! Thoughts to ponder:
Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well- being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. ~Soren Kierkegaard
People say that losing weight is no walk in the park. When I hear that I think, yeah, that’s the problem. ~Chris Adams
The best remedy for a short temper is a long walk. ~Jacqueline Schiff
Walking:the most ancient exercise and still the best modern exercise. ~Carrie Latet
An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day. ~Henry David Thoreau
After dinner sit awhile, after supper walk a mile. ~English Proverb
Walking gets the feet moving, the blood moving, the mind moving. And movement is life. ~Carrie Latet
