According to reports, Jeremy Lee Loving, 21, of 48 Jernigan Trail, Dunn, showed up at the Plain View Highway home of a senior citizen and demanded to get in the residence at 9 p.m. Monday night. The residence is located just north of Lewis Iley Tew Road.
Reports show a 58-year-old woman, who was home at the time, heard banging on her front door. The suspect was demanding to be let in. The woman at the home immediately called 911 to report the incident.
While the woman was on the phone with a 911 operator, the suspect was able to get the door open, but could not get all the way through and continued banging on the door. He eventually gave up and went to the woman’s car, which was parked out front and began going through it.
Two deputies, who lived in the area but were off-duty at the time, heard the call and responded to the residence.
The officers saw the suspect going through the vehicle and then began chasing him on foot. At the same time, an on-duty deputy arrived on the scene and also began pursuit of the suspect.
The third deputy was able to get within a close distance to Loving and effectively tased him and placed him in custody.
Loving, who was not injured in the tasing, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, a felony offense. He was also charged with breaking and entering and resist, delay and obstructing an officer, both misdemeanors. Loving was placed under $20,000 bond.
The woman at the residence was not injured in the incident.
