The JV team held the James Kenan Tigers to 2-0, with the scores 25-15 and 26-24.
During the first set against the Tigers, Midway started off big taking a 4-0 lead, which quickly turned to a 15-2 lead as the game progressed.
James Kenan’s Madison Wise was able to close the gap slightly, bringing the Tigers up to four points; however, Midway continued to strike back, eventually taking it 25-15.
As for outstanding players, head coach Heather Johnson highlighted Jada Cannady for having two kills; Christy Carr had two aces; Kaitlyn Jackson had two aces; and Erin Strickland had two aces and two kills.
The junior varsity record now stand at 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
As for the varsity team, Johnson reported that they, too, were able to hold James Kenan, beating them 3-0 with the scores 25-19; 25-1; and 25-15.
“The total team effort with outstanding,” Johnson commented, adding that Amber Peterson served 22 straight points.
Johnson also highlighted that Emily Barber had seven kills, one block and six service aces; Morgan Warren had four kills and an ace; Jackie Benton had two kills; and Caroline Warren had two kills.
The victory over the Tigers brings Midways record to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Midway will play Rosewood, Monday, Sept. 14, in an away game.
