Investigators with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Clinton man on a slew of drug charges after the man reportedly sold the drugs to undercover agents at the beginning of the weekend.

According to reports, Alfonza Jeffers, 59, of 217 Ezzell Road, Clinton, was charged with selling marijuana, delivering marijuana, selling cocaine, delivering cocaine and simple drug possession (of marijuana) after the suspect reportedly sold 1.6 grams of marijuana and 0.1 grams of crack cocaine to an undercover informant working with local drug agents.

While executing warrants, from Aug. 17, officers said they located marijuana inside the Jeffers’ home.

The suspect was placed under a $35,500 bond and given a trial date of Sept. 18.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Jeffers has a long history of drug convictions dating back to 1984, when he was convicted of trafficking cocaine (28-199 grams).

He also has a conviction for receiving stolen goods, a felony, dating back to 1975.
