William Shane Powell, 44, of 85 Birdie Lane, Garland, was charged with no operator’s license; failure to stop for siren or lights; and going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.
According to reports, Sampson County Sheriff’s deputy J. Johnson observed Powell’s 1978 GMC pick-up truck driving down Norris Road without license plates on the vehicle at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday night. When Johnson hit his lights and attempted to pull Powell over, Powell took off and a pursuit ensued.
Johnson reported that he chased Powell’s truck for a “couple of miles” before Powell finally stopped near Wright’s Bridge Road.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Powell has convictions dating back to 1985. Including an operating a vehicle without license (Dec. 1987); Driving with license revoked; driving while impaired and speeding from police (April 1991); Larceny (Oct. 1994); Burglary (May 1995); DWI Level 2 and driving with license revoked (July 2001); Breaking and entering of vehicles (July 2006); Forgery (Jan. 2006); and Receiving a stolen vehicle (Dec. 2007) for which he received a year and eight months. He was released earlier this year on April 15.
Powell was given a $1,500 bond and a trial date of Oct. 14.

Did you handle this loser's cases before? I know you're all about doing the right thing and this seems like someone you've had experience with in the past. Maybe Jackie Dixon was the magistrate on duty when Willie was arrested.
