An Autryville man has been arrested and was placed under a $10,000 bond after allegedly assaulting an acquaintance with the stock of a rifle, breaking the man’s arm and sending him to the emergency room.

Jimmy Pilkington, 63, of 185 Plug Lane, Autryville, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury after he went to a friend’s house and beat him with the stock of a rifle.

According to reports, on the evening of Sept. 29, Pilkington allegedly went to the home of Ricky Faircloth, also of Autryville, and accused Faircloth of taking some of his “personal property.” The two got into an argument that resulted in Pilkington going out to his vehicle and returning to Faircloth’s residence with a rifle.

Once inside, the 63-year-old Pilkington struck Faircloth with the stock of the rifle, hitting him in the head, chin and shoulder.

Faircloth was taken to Sampson Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released, suffering a broken arm.

Pilkington was taken into custody Thursday evening by investigators with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office and placed under a $10,000 unsecured bond. He bonded out later that night.

Pilkington will have a trial date of Nov. 2.
