Midway loses close

one to Pender

The Midway Raiders fell to Pender Monday with the score 2-1.

According to head coach Jim Phillips, Jaime Castillo was able to get Midway on the board with an assist from Ryan McLamb.

“We played pretty good in the midfield,” said Phillips, highlighting Andres Antonio and Jesus Manzo.

Midway’s record is now 3-12-1. They will play Lakewood at home Wednesday, Oct. 21

Leopards routed

The Lakewood Leopard’s men’s soccer team fell to Trask Monday with the score 0-3, athletic director James Lewis provided.

Leopard coach Jesus Sandoval did not call in scores or highlights from the game.

Union, Hobbton

tie it up

The Union Spartans played with all they had Monday, tying a once undefeated Hobbton 1-1.

According to reports from Wildcat head coach Michael Cook, the Wildcat’s soccer record has now moved to 12-1-1 after tying the Spartans.

Alex Escalera was able to put Hobbton on the board with his goal.

“It was a gorgeous goal,” Union’s head coach David Stanley said, complimenting the Wildcats.

In addition to Escalera, Cook highlighted Chris Lambert, Jesus Mejia and Adam Raynor for their work on defense.

As for Union, their goal was scored off Hairon “Jackie Chan” Sevillia, Stanley provided, adding that Sevillia’s goal was off a direct kick just outside the box.

“There was outstanding play by Alex Mendoza and Yani Martinez,” Stanley shared, adding his “Big Four” to the outstanding play list.

Union’s record is currently 6-3-2 in the conference and 6-5-2 overall. Union will play Trask away Wednesday, Oct. 21; and Hobbton will host Wallace-Rose Hill.
