A Clinton teenager and a Salemburg man are facing felony larceny and fraud charges in three separate cases, according to reports from Sampson County sheriff’s authorities.

Marshall Allen Lofton, 18, of 4740 Bearskin Road, Clinton, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. Warrants were taken out on the teenager Friday and the charges were served later that day.

Bond was set at $5,000.

According to sheriff’s reports, the charges stem from an Oct. 19 report by Michael Cook, who told deputies his home on Whit Road in the Newton Grove area was broken into. A door was pried open to gain entry, investigators said.

Stolen in the incident was a 42-inch flatscreen television, valued at $1,500, a 9mm handgun, valued at $250, and about $500 in assorted change, reports state. Two mp3 players taken were valued at $195 collectively.

It was unclear if the items were able to be recovered.

In the other arrest, a Salemburg man was taken into custody in thefts that occurred on back-to-back days at his neighbor’s home.

Anthony Joe Hall Jr., 32, of 222 Anthony Lane, Salemburg, was charged with felony larceny and placed under a $5,000 bond. He received another $5,000 bond on charges of financial card theft, a felony offense, and financial card fraud, a misdemeanor.

Warrants were taken out in connection with both instances Thursday.

Both stem from reports by Robert Hernandez of 245 Anthony Lane, Salemburg. In his first report, made at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 9, Hernandez told authorities his homemade hog cooker had been stolen. The cooker is valued at $1,600.

In the second report, made almost exactly 24 hours later, Hernandez told deputies that his truck had been taken and the ATM card inside the vehicle was taken without his permission. Authorities stated in reports that $480 was stolen as a result. The cooker has not reportedly been recovered.
