WARSAW — Duplin County Schools superintendent Dr. Wiley Doby will not seek renewal of his contract, which ends June 30.

He announced those attentions Tuesday night during a closed-door meeting of the board, which followed a jam-packed public portion of the meeting, where dozens showed up wearing red shirts denoting their hope that the superintendent would be ousted.

During the closed door meeting with the board Tuesday night, Doby told members when his contract ends June 30, 2010 he would be leaving as Duplin’s superintendent.

They accepted his request and further moved to begin the search process. Doby’s decision comes on the heels of growing citizens discontent in his tenure as superintendent.

Good riddance! I hope the Board of Education has learned something from this.

Good job to those who have essentially run him out of town on a rail!
