James Earl Blue, 39, of 70 Pine Oak Lane, was charged with communicating threats, assault on a female and carrying a concealed weapon, all outstanding warrants from an incident that took place on Aug. 13.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy recognized Blue as he was riding by him around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17. Knowing that Blue was wanted on outstanding warrants, the suspect was immediately taken into custody and charged.
It was not clear at press time if the woman involved in the assault was seriously injured during the Aug. 13 incident. What reports do show, however, is that Blue was allegedly carrying a .380-caliber Hi-Point handgun during the incident.
He was also given the additional charge of carrying a firearm by a felon by Magistrate A. Jackson. Blue was placed under an $11,000 secured bond. His first court appearance has been calendared for Dec. 14.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Blue has a history of convictions dating back to 1992, including possession of firearm by felon (2007); assault with a deadly weapon (2007); injury to real property (2007); DWI and driving with license revoked (2006); having driver’s license permanently revoked (2007); assault on a female (2005); failure to register as a sex offender (2005); DWI (1999); taking indecent liberties with a child (1996); and larceny (1992).
