Officials with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office have issued a Silver Alert for a 28-year-old woman who was last seen Tuesday morning in Clinton.

According to reports, the mother of Deborah Peterson, 28, of Barbrey Avenue in Clinton, reported her daughter missing Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. after she had not seen her for a full day.

According to Capt. Eric Pope, the Silver Alert was issued late Wednesday for the woman, who is said to suffer from a developmental disability. Information was not released to the newspaper until Thursday morning.

“She supposedly left a note saying that she would be going to a friend’s house,” Pope said Thursday morning. “When the friend was contacted, they said that hadn’t seen her at any point during the day.”

Pope said a search of the area was done to see if they could locate Peterson, but the search turned up no new clues to her whereabouts.

“We are hoping to get the public involved and see if anyone can help us locate her,” he said.

Peterson, last seen by her mother Tuesday morning at 6 a.m, is described as 5 feet 3 inches; weighs approximately 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. No photograph was available.

“If anyone knows her whereabouts or has seen her, we ask that they call us,” Pope added.

The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office number is 910-592-4141.

Thanks lafus. Even though I don't know the young lady, I agree with you on this. And I do believe you have a kind heart after all.

Let's make sure if any evidence of this woman's whereabouts is followed through more carefully, eric. We don't need a replay of pulling officers of this case to search for deer and bear remains by helicopter. Once we more than enough.

Hopefully, this woman will be found safe.
