Wildcat girls defeat Princeton, 52-36

The Wildcats traveled to Princeton Wednesday, where the girl’s varsity team was able to pull a 52-36 route.

“We played very well tonight. They (Princeton) tried to come back, but we were able to hold on for the win,” said head coach Feleica Autry post game.

Leaders for Hobbton were Niesha Lewis with 22 points and six steals; Annarose Schoonmaker with 16 points and four steals; Bethany Knight with eight points; and Samantha Wilson was credited for a strong defensive performance.

A call to the JV coach went unreturned and the varsity game was not over by press time. Continue to check for updates.

Hobbton lead scorers in Clinton basketball game

Because Clinton and Hobbton’s basketball action did not finish until just before press time Tuesday, the Wildcats leading players were not added to the list.

Reports came in Wednesday morning providing the following players as top contributors Mallard Newkirk eight points; Terence Robinson eight point and seven rebounds; Henry Barnes seven points and nine rebounds ; Justin Armwood five points; Brad Evans three points; Xavier Thompson, Joe Schoonmaker and Eli Chestnutt, all with two points a piece.

“Clinton wore us out,” said Wildcats head coach Kenny Bass. “They completely dominated both ends of the court. Their defense took us out of everything we tried to do. They have a very talented team. Our effort was good but our execution was very poor. Henry Barnes gave us a good effort in his first game with seven points and nine rebounds. He will help us inside.”
