There are some choices that you can make about decorations that will help cut back on energy use. Lots of lights are used to decorate houses and trees and anything you can think to deck. You should choose LED lights instead of normal Christmas lights in the future. I know you probably already have your decorations for this Christmas up, but for future reference, LED lights save up to 80-90 percent energy. Start to phase them in now if you are replacing some.
Christmas trees are usually the most prominent decoration in a holiday house. There are some new greener trends that have started recently. Some people have decided that they do not want to cut down trees, so they have begun decorating their Christmas tree while it is still outside planted. That really reminds me of a Charlie Brown Christmas when they decorate that mini tree outside! If you are into that, you may want to try decorating a tree outside. We would all be impressed. I personally like the smell of a real tree in the house though. The good news is that basically all of the places that you can buy a Christmas tree is supplied from Christmas tree farms! This means that no forest is getting any smaller for the sake of your decorations. Contrary to popular belief, most trees in the area that are cut are replaced with replanting. While fake trees might admirably get used year after year, you can still have your real tree guilt free!
I hope you all enjoy the days leading up the 25th! Merry Christmas! And don't forget to Go Green!
