A man wanted on a string of charges in two separate counties was charged with assault on a female and resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer early Tuesday morning after Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic assault.

Norman Levond Fairley, 25, of 70 Todd Lane, Dunn, was handed the charges Tuesday after deputies discovered an unnamed woman assaulted at Fairley’s residence around 6 a.m.

According to Capt. Julian Carr, Fairley was immediately taken into custody for the assault. Although an ambulance was called for the woman, she refused treatment, Carr stated.

While in custody, it was discovered that Fairley was wanted on outstanding warrants for a failure to appear charge of possession of marijuana (from March 16, 2006) in Mecklenburg County and an assault on a government official and resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer from an incident that took place on Dec. 19, 2007 in Harnett County.

Fairley was given no bond for the assault; a $1,500 for the resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer charge and a combined $3,000 bond for the out of county warrants, Carr said.
