The Spartans would hold on for a 79-76 victory Monday.
After taking a hefty 23-15 lead following the first quarter, the Spartans would continue to bring the heat on their home court well into the third quarter.
According to reports from Union’s Bryant Register, the Spartans would control the board entering into the break after rising an extra 18 and holding South View to another 10 points.
Following the break, Union would again control the board with a 21-point lead. South View would increase by 17.
In the final quarter, the Spartans would start to lose steam, allowing South View a chance to rally with an extra 34 points. Union’s 17 points, however, would keep them ahead for the win by a mere three.
Leaders for South View were Derrick Jessup with 17 points and Chris Vinson with 15 points.
Top Spartans were Larry George with 20 points; Greg Carroll with 16 points; Joey Horne with 13 point; Raheem Washington with 11 points; T.D. Blackmore with 10 points Natrone Banks with 7 points; and Darius Butler 2 points.
