A 30-year-old Autryville man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his stepfather, his girlfriend and then hitting his girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter with a baseball bat in an incident that took place Tuesday night.
Daniel Jay Wiltshire, 30, of 199 Pine Loop Lane, was taken into custody by Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with assault on a child under the age of 12 and assault with a deadly weapon.
According to reports, deputies responded to an emergency call at 199 Bushway Lane in Autryville Tuesday afternoon. The initial report came in from Wiltshire’s mother, who reported that her son was “intoxicated” and broke her microwave while she was attempting to get him to leave the home.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found Wiltshire’s 57-year-old stepfather lying outside on the ground with blood coming from his ears, nose and mouth. They also found a 9-year-old girl and her mother, identified as Wiltshire’s girlfriend, in need of medical assistance.
The male was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and treated for his injuries, while the 9-year-old and her mother were taken to Sampson Regional Medical Center where they were both treated and released.
An investigation into the incident revealed that after Wiltshire’s mother called law enforcement, the suspect allegedly left her home and then quickly made his way back in the house this time with a handgun.
According to reports, the mother was able to coax the gun out of her son’s hands. However, her husband and son began arguing and then fighting. During the argument, it was reported, the stepfather threw the handgun in the woods behind the home.
Wiltshire is alleged to have then begun beating his stepfather, at some point grabbing a baseball bat. His alleged girlfriend and mother tried to pull him off of the man.
Wiltshire swung the bat hitting the woman’s 9-year-old daughter in the right side of her body.
Once pulled off the man, and with law enforcement on their way, the suspect made a break for the woods, where deputies caught up with him and took him into custody.
Wiltshire jailed without bond. His trial date has been set for Feb. 25.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Wiltshire has two previous convictions. In Nov. 1998, he was convicted of possession of stolen goods; and in June of 2000, Wiltshire was convicted of driving with his license revoked, both misdemeanors.

I don't think this genius went to LHS- the last name tells me that he ain't from these parts. Prolly another transplant.
@noneyobiz- I agree. It does look like the stepfather might have got in a few licks... too bad it was only a few.
gosh lafe- don't you know by now, if you had commented "nice" things about this young fellow, you wouldn't have to repeat yourself & wear those keys out over & over... duh ;)
Maybe they'll let you bunk with Lawrence "Larry the Beast" Bowden- you two seem to have a common interest, only his victim was 10 years old, not 9 & he used a bathroom door, instead of a baseball bat! But, heck, what does that matter when you have to prove your masculinity?!!
YOU MAKE 'EM PROUD, ROUND YONDER ON THAT THERE HORSESHOE ROAD BOY... GEEZ, WHAT AN IDIOT YOU ARE!
