One jailed, another sought in teen’s shooting

A fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with a recent home invasion in Roseboro that left a 15-year-old boy shot and investigators searching for suspects, one who is still at large.

On Thursday, Nicholas Moore, 17, of 633 Boone St., Roseboro, was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon; first degree burglary; first degree kidnapping; felony conspiracy; and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury.

Moore, who was picked up in Burlington, was placed under a $750,000 secured bond and given a trial date of Jan. 22.

He joins Michael Zimmerman, 24, of 716 North Pine St., Roseboro; Lamar Hanif Walker, 24, of 606 N. Pine St., Roseboro; Christopher Javon Parker, 24, of 606 S. East St., Roseboro; and Buddha Victoria, 31, of 2359 Old Mintz Hwy., Roseboro; all believed to be involved in the home invasion and all charged in the incident.

In addition, law enforcement officials with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office are on the lookout for Maurice Kendall Devane, 33. Warrants for robbery with a dangerous weapon; first degree burglary; first degree kidnapping; felony conspiracy; and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury have been issued for his arrest. He is believed to be the remainins suspect in the home invasion and shooting., officers said.

Devane is a black male, 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds.

According to reports, the home invasion was reported just after 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at 7101 Old Mintz Highway, Garland. Investigators said the front door was forced open and items taken were taken from the home. During the incident, a 15-year-old Magnolia resident was shot. The juvenile was treated at Sampson Regional Medical Center and discharged two days later.

Chris Johnson, 27, of the Garland residence, was also listed as a victim in the incident, in which a PlayStation 3 with wireless controllers, two large TVs and two yellow nail guns were stolen. The items were valued at nearly $2,500.
