Two Roseboro men were arrested Thursday afternoon and placed under $75,000 bonds in connection with a larceny at the old Plain View School, just south of Dunn.
Lee Dell Boykin, 55, of 2072 Claudes Drag Road, Roseboro, and Freddy Melvin, 55, of 2016 Claudes Drag Road, Roseboro, were each charged with four counts of breaking and entering; four counts of larceny after breaking and entering; and four counts of possession of stolen goods, and were placed under $75,000 secured bonds by Magistrate K. Ellis.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, both men were charged with the crime after taking cast iron radiator heaters from the school earlier in the day.
The Plain View Coalition, of Dunn, reported that five radiator heaters were stolen.
Law enforcement officials were called when the two men showed up at Sampson Salvage with the five radiators trying to sell them as scrap metal.
They were taken into custody on the spot.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Boykin has a history of misdemeanors and felonies dating back to 1995. Both men have a court date of Feb. 5.
