A week after wanted posters were sent out to media outlets and posted around Sampson and surrounding counties, Maurice Kendall Devane, 32, of 503 North Pine St., Roseboro, turned himself in to authorities.
Devane, who was taken into custody on Thursday, Jan. 28, joins Michael Zimmerman, 24, of 716 North Pine St., Roseboro; Lamar Hanif Walker, 24, of 606 N. Pine St., Roseboro; Christopher Javon Parker, 24, of 606 S. East St., Roseboro; and Buddha Victoria, 31, of 2359 Old Mintz Hwy., Roseboro; and Nicholas Moore, 17, of 633 Boone St., Roseboro, all who are believed to be involved in a home invasion that took place Dec. 26.
According to reports, the home invasion was reported just after 6 a.m. at a residence, located at 7101 Old Mintz Highway, Garland. Investigators said the front door was forced open and items taken were taken from the home. During the incident, a 15-year-old Magnolia resident was shot. The juvenile was treated at Sampson Regional Medical Center and discharged two days later.
Chris Johnson, 27, of the Garland residence, was also listed as a victim in the incident. A PlayStation 3 with wireless controllers, two large TVs and two yellow nail guns were stolen. The items were valued at nearly $2,500.
Officials at the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said Devane turned himself in a week after Moore was arrested in Burlington.
According to the N.C. Department of Corrections website, Devane has two previous convictions in October of 1998 —both misdemeanors for damage to property and disorderly conduct.
Devane was placed under a $750,000 secured bond and will have a trial date of Feb. 5.
