Despite a short weather hiatus, the Lady Leopards clawed their way to another Tri-County victory Tuesday, slashing Hobbton with a 49-29 win.
“It was a real good game,” said Lakewood’s head coach Lofton Kerr. “We were looking kind of sluggish because we haven’t been able to practice, but it was a real good win for us.”
Kerr also complimented neighboring foe, Hobbton.
“Hobbton looked like they have improved since last time we played. My hat goes off to Felicia (Autry); she has her team playing a whole lot better basketball,” Kerr finished.
After holding the Wildcats to a scant 11 points, Lakewood would leap ahead at the half with 21 on the board.
Following the break, Hobbton would move another 18 points, but Lakewood’s 28-point sprint would secure their win.
Leaders for Lakewood were Tasha Rich with 13 points; Devony Hemingway with 13 points; Bianca Moore with 13 points; Aquetta Robinson with 2 points; Nikki DeVincentis with 5 points; and Teisha Rich with 2 points.
Top Hobbton players were Annarose Schoonmaker with 10 points; Niesha Lewis with 5 points; Bethany Knight with 5 points; Baileigh Moser and Taylor Bowden came off the bench with 3 points each.
