Scores were called in late.
“Both teams, I think, started out sluggish, but got things going the second quarter,” Union’s head coach Byron Bass reported early Friday.
Ahead 18-11 at the half, Union would pull ahead for the win with a 22-point increase at the second half.
“It was a good team effort on Union’s part. Hobbton played hard the whole game and never quit, but we pulled ahead in the second half for the win,” Bass concluded.
Hobbton’s head coach Mark Godwin added, “I thought my team gave a great effort, but we weren’t able to pull out a victory.”
Top Spartans were Brandon Lovette with 10 points; Ryan Hall 14 points; and Desmond Faison with 11 points.
D.J. Hargis lead for Hobbton with 10 points.
Union will play Midway in the first round Monday, Feb. 8, at RSMS. Game time is 4 p.m.
