A Clinton man was arrested at the Sampson County Courthouse for failure to register as a sex offender Monday afternoon when deputies with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office arrested him and placed him into custody.
Augusto Lopez Martinez, 27, of 25 Wildflower Lane, Clinton, was charged with failure to register as a sex offender and placed under a $10,000 secured bond by Magistrate K. Ellis.
Martinez was also given a trial date of March 5.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Martinez was convicted of a Class F felony back in August of 2002 for taking indecent liberties with a child in Jackson County.
