A routine traffic stop was anything but after the suspect assaulted an officer and was subsequently tased before being arrested.
The stop also netted 22.8 grams of marijuana during the Saturday. The drugs were seized.
Shamar Tyrone McNeil, 30, of 327 Longview Lake Road, Garland, was arrested after the vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped by deputies on Brown Avenue in Garland around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, released Tuesday, once the vehicle was stopped, the deputy noticed McNeil in the passenger seat “stuffing” something in his coat sleeve.
The driver of the vehicle, who was not charged in the incident, consented to a vehicle search. When McNeil was “patted down” a bag of marijuana was reportedly seized from the suspect’s coat sleeve. McNeil is alleged to have pushed the officer, grabbed the bag of marijuana from him and took off running. The officer ran McNeil down and tackled him, all the while McNeil was trying to get rid of the 22.8 grams of marijuana. Despite repeated requests from the deputy to give up, McNeil kept battling the officer. Eventually, he was tased and subdued.
McNeil was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center and charged with resist, obstruct or delay; assault on a public officer and simple possession. He was given a $4,000 secured bond and a trial date of March 18.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, McNeil has convictions dating back to 2000. Those convictions include, possession of stolen goods (March 2002); larceny (March 2000); Level 4 DWI (July 2004); and DWI level 2 (April 2009).

Great job, Ms. McNeil, in raising this loser. Did Tyrone re-enact his taser induced flopping around for you?
The law enforcement agencies need to up their ante in the DRUG problem in this "so-called" county. They maybe the reason there is a drug problem.
