A rough season for the Midway Raiders got no easier Wednesday as Pender claimed an 82-39 victory in the first round of the Tri-County tournament.

“This was not a very good game. We couldn’t get anything going in the first half and the second half was no better,” admitted Midway’s head coach Clint Williams.

While the defeat has left the Raiders with a losing season, Williams remained positive.

“It has been a rough season this year, but I am proud of my guys for sticking with the program. They have worked hard, and I know it didn’t pay off with a winning record, but I am proud of them,” Williams commented.

Without forgetting their conference foe, Williams complimented Pender for their quarterfinal victory.

“Pender played an excellent game from the start to the finish. Everybody on Pender’s team contributed, and it was a tough ball game to begin with. They made their claim for 14-0 tonight,” Williams shared.

Kyle Knowles led the Raiders with 13 points; Domique Owens chipped in 9 points; and Jonathan Poole contributed 7 points to the board.
