CLINTON — Mr. Jose Guadalupe Garcia-Acosta, 35, of 42 Wildflower Lane, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010.

MOREHEAD CITY — Mrs. Lou Pearl Simmons, 99, of Britthaven of Newport, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, Feb, 18, 2010, at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Bill West officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, McCullen Road, Faison.
Mrs. Simmons, a native of Duplin County, was the daughter of the late Aulcey Pierce and Glendora Carter Pierce, and the widow of David L. Simmons. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Rachel Carter, and a great-grandson, Jonathan Stegal.
She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and retired as a housemother from the Kennedy Home for Children in Kinston, NC.
Surviving are two sons, Weldon A. Simmons and wife, Jo, of Garner and Milford L. Simmons and wife, Regenia, of Morehead City; a son-in-law, Kenneth Carter, Jr. of Clinton; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, the hour prior to the service.
