Getting a good lead on the upcoming season, the Hobbton and Clinton baseball teams met for a scrimmage Tuesday afternoon. The Dark Horses pulled ahead by one run for the unofficial win, 5-4.
The top of the first was slow moving for Clinton, scoring zero runs, while Hobbton was able to get on the board with 2
The Dark Horses found their footing during the top of the first, bringing in a runner for a 2-1 trail.
Unfortunately, the Dark Horses did not see another run scored until the top of the fourth. Hobbton went two innings without bringing in a base runner.
Throughout the fourth inning, both Hobbton and Clinton registered two runs each, leaving the scrimmage still in the paws of the Wildcats; however a scoreless bottom of the fifth and sixth for Hobbton allowed Clinton to take the lead.
The Dark Horses galloped ahead with one run scored during the top of both the fifth and sixth innings.
Because Tuesday’s action was a scrimmage and, therefore, unofficial, Clinton opted to play defense for the entire seventh inning, giving Taylor Stanley time on the mound as the closer.
Hobbton’s Jeremy Adkins was 2-4; Adam Raynor was 2-4; Brad Evans was 1-3; Allan Britt was 1-3; and Aaron Massengil was 1-2.
Clinton’s Kullen Bell was 1-3; Stanley was 1-3; and Taylor Tew was 1-3.
