A Turkey man was booked on assault charges after he turned himself into authorities around 11:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Ronnie Weldon Sutton, 40, of 3832 Cabin Museum Road, Turkey, was charged with assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats. Sutton was placed under a $1,500 unsecured bond and given a trial date of March 31.

According to reports, the 52-year-old female victim in the case, who is an acquaintance of Sutton’s, went to his residence Wednesday night. At some point during the visit, Sutton allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim’s head while threatening her. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The woman then made a complaint to authorities and a warrant was taken out for his arrest. Sutton turned himself into Sampson County Sheriff’s Office authorities Thursday night. He was later released.

According to the North Carolina Department of Correction, Johnson has no previous convictions.

I am ashamed to admit that I live in a town where this fine piece of fiction could be considered to be news, and worse, that it was thought to be worthy of being printed. Seems to me that Mr. Clark fell behind in his "pre-writing investigative duties" due to the numerous mistakes that caught my attention.

I believe that it was unfair and biased to reveal Mr. Sutton's name but to never mention the identity of the "acquaintance" that he allegedly threatened. This leads me to believe that maybe the person's identity would cause discrepancies in the story.

My thoughts go out to "Mr. Johnson" and his family because I would imagine that this situation has caused some tension with in his family. As for Mr. Clark I am looking forward to reading the other side of the story since this to be part one of two. Maybe in the sequel readers will get the whole story and not just one side
