A 16-year-old Clinton teen was charged with three felonies after investigators linked him to a Feb. 18 larceny.

Taylor Ray Johnson, 16, of 1051 Reedsford Road, Clinton, was charged with larceny; possession of stolen goods/property; and obtaining property by false pretenses. Johnson was arrested at Clinton High School Thursday morning around 10:30 a.m. and was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center. He was placed under a $4,500 secured bond.

According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, a 65-year-old male reported over $800 in property stolen from his Taylor’s Lane property on Feb. 18. Taken in the theft was a cast iron bath tub, a trailer ramp, four black rims and 10 pieces of steel sheeting.

After reporting the crime to law enforcement, the victim in the case called Sampson Salvage to report what was missing just in case his property turned up there. Within days, he received a call saying he salvage yard, did indeed, have his items.

After a thorough investigation by the department and with help from the victim and Sampson Salvage, Johnson was linked to the crime and arrested.

According to the North Carolina Department of Correction, Johnson has no previous convictions.
