15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
This scripture is describing the miracle that Jesus brought to a mother and people in the death of a child. We see Christ standing in the gap of death with compassion. If you look very close at this scripture it reveals a strong message for our lives today. As we look at our present situation with the younger generation and parents today, what does this scripture and the miracle thereof say to us?
Examine the current parental and younger society today. What do we see in our young people today? As a parent myself I see confusion taking place in a younger generation within a world that is offering many types of choices that have no moral or spiritual value and it is a spiritual poison. This poison is called sin and it is killing our children spiritually. This ever so busy world has put parents in a work, work, work mode that there is little time for our relations with our very on children. Its robbery! Homes have become hotels just for passing through to the next thing or event. Texting and e-mailing have took place of front line parental care. Family relations have become infected with technology that has blinded our true vision of what parents are. Substituting guidance and love with on the fly drive by type communicating technology. Some call it great and purposeful management, a way to get more out of a busy day. Satan sees it as an opportunity to present sin and distraction that offers companionship to the world. The world you say… a system that promotes tolerance of sin that your children, our children deal with when you and I are not there in the gap. How is this you might ask? This is how by allowing our society to promote sexual immorality from adultery on TV; to same sex relations in our educational systems a system that is supposed to educate not demonstrate. Through open advertisement such as bill boards that tell us if it feels good just do it or entertainment jesters like the doll hose that has a solute of a female figure in the background in a provocative position and we see abortions go through the roof that our laws protect- HELLO! There are countless other ways that present themselves to our younger society and I'm sure you have noticed. Murder and drug use between young people has not declined it has increased. Love is being sought by our children and parents are being robbed by gangs, alcohol, pornography. Companionship has taken the form of video games, computers. While social events are plagued with drugs and sexual pressures.
The churches of America are offering Bible studies for both adult and youth. Pastors are continuously preaching the word from Sunday to Sunday. Christian schools are doing the same. Churches are even organizing mission trips for the youth and adults. Spiritual activities are being promoted for families and friends throughout countless religious communities. However these efforts are not substitutes for parenting. What the church offers just a few short hours a week cannot replace the God lead parent. The Bible tells us Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it. We as parents must stand in the gap for our family and children.
The Scripture in Luke 7:14 is telling us that Jesus is willing to give us our children back to us that our world is killing. Just as He stood between the coffin and the mother and bridge the gap of death. Jesus stood in our place for sin and defeated death through the cross. Faith and prayer is the key to unlock the answers. Just as in our scripture Jesus HAS RISEN AMONG US and is ready to visit his people.
