The Midway Middle lady Raiders got a lead on the season with a 9-1 stomping of Union Wednesday.
“The girls played really good defensively. Union got better as the game went on; so, I think they will be harder to beat later in the season,” head coach Sam Kitchen commented.
Midway’s Sabra Knowles pitched a two-hitter, struck out 12 and hit a triple; Cassidy Strickland slammed a home run and double.
Union coaches did not report their middle school scores or student leaders.
