A Sampson County man was placed under a $75,000 bond after he allegedly broke into his sister-in-law’s home and touched her in a sexually inappropriate manner Wednesday.
Mario Alberto Aguilar, 37, of 70 Country Ridge Lane, Newton Grove, was charged with breaking and entering; second degree sexual assault; and sexual battery after being arrested at his home Wednesday morning.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Aguilar allegedly broke into a Newton Grove-area residence Wednesday morning and touched a 39-year-old woman inappropriately.
The woman, who was later identified as his sister-in-law, was able to break away from Aguilar and called law enforcement officials.
Aguilar was arrested at his home within minutes of the alleged attack.
The woman, whose name is being withheld to protect her identity, suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Aguilar was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center, bonded and given a March 19 court date.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Aguilar has a previous conviction dating back to 1996. That charge is for felony child abuse, in which he was given probation.
