Roseboro-Salemburg’s Jeff Acker and Jeffrey Tanner both recorded out-of-the-park homers Monday, pushing the Leopards over Sampson, 13-6.

While the Leopards ultimately leaped over the Dark Horses, their first-inning play only brought in one runner. Ross Strickland, Roseboro’s catcher, recorded a base hit to first; however, Troy Spell came in to run the bases for Strickland. He was batted in by Acker for the Leopards’ first score of the game.

During the bottom of the first, Sampson’s first three in the lineup were out by Roseboro’s first baseman, Austin Tanner.

Roseboro’s Jeffrey Tanner slammed a line drive over the fence during the top of the second, putting the Leopards up 2-0.

Sampson laid into the ball during the bottom of the second with a four-run jump. Grant Naylor and Daniel Huffman each earned an RBI this inning and Tyler McNeil got 2 RBIs.

Roseboro’s Acker sent the ball over the fence during the top of the third, bringing both himself and Strickland home. The Leopards scored three more times this inning for a 7-4 lead.

The Dark Horses finished with six on the board after scoring one run in the third and fourth innings. Roseboro, on the other hand, scored once in the fourth, sixth and four times in the seventh.

Jeffrey Tanner was the winning pitcher, spending 2 and 1/2 innings on the mound. Relief pitcher Acker, got the save. Cody Baker was 2-4; Tanner was 3-4; and Acker was 3-5 at the plate.

Sampson’s Alex Purcell was the losing pitcher, spending four innings on the mound. Aaron Viser closed for the Dark Horses. Huffman was 2-3; Naylor was 1-3 and Haden Lanier was 1-2 at the plate.
