Clinton’s Mason Warren recorded two huge RBIs for the Dark Horses Friday against Topsail, bringing in Trey Jacobs and Taylor Stanley for Clinton’s only two runs of the game. The final score was 2-0.
A scoreless first five innings looked promising for whichever team could make their way to third, which Clinton accomplished in the next inning.
By the sixth inning, Jacobs had stolen third and Stanley was posted at first, allowing Warren a chance to load the Dark Horses up. Instead, Warren drilled a line drive to left field, bringing in both runners and putting Clinton up 2-0.
Stanley was the winning pitcher, spending all seven innings on the mound, striking out 10, allowing only two hits, one walk and no runs scored.
At the plate, Warren was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs; Quentin Faulkner was 1-2 with a double; Jacobs was 1-1 with a single and a walk.
