“Overall, the girls hit the ball very well,” said Lakewood head coach Dr. Dave Yarasheski. “Bailey Dudley and Amber Blair also pitched a fantastic game.”
Collectively on the mound, Blair and Dudley struck out three of North Duplin’s batters, the coach provided.
Lakewood got on the board first Wednesday after scoring four big runs in the top of the third. They added one more run in the fourth; three in the sixth and two in the seventh to finish with 10 on the board.
While North Duplin fell to Lakewood, the Rebels did not go out without a fight, leaving the Rebel team to finally get on the board with two runs in the fifth inning. Their final run of the game came during the sixth inning.
At the plate, Nikki DeVincentis, Blair, Jasmine Culbreth, Allyson Heinz and Sydney Febris were all credited for recording hits. Zanna Faircloth knocked one out of the park during the top of the seventh inning.
Due to a potential rain storm, which is expected to hit the area Friday, Lakewood and James Kenan’s softball game has been moved to tonight, in the Tigers den, at 6 p.m.
