Roseboro eventually sealed the deal with a two-run advance over Hobbton. The final score was 10-8.
“We are very proud of the way all of our girls played today,” said Roseboro’s coaches. “As a team, we hit the ball better and made great plays on the field.”
The first inning, Roseboro proved a powerful hitting team after bringing four runners in to take the lead by three-runs.
Leading off for the Leopards, Paige Fye was walked to first, stole second and stole third. On the third base coach’s command to steal home, Fye was beat to the plate by the ball. Hobbton’s Emily Harrison made the out at home.
Although the Leopards were unlucky on their attempted score, Amanda Kook was still in scoring position with Ashton Hairr not far behind on second.
Both Kook and Hairr were batted in by Brook Bowen when Hobbton brought in Brittany Testerman as the relief pitcher.
Roseboro batted in two more runners in the bottom of the first for a 4-1 lead.
Despite the Leopards’ leap, Hobbton was not out the game just yet, scoring two more runs in the second inning for a one-run trail.
“Hobbton hit the ball very well, but our defense stayed tough until the end,” Roseboro’s coaches commented.
The Leopards did stay strong to the end, winning the game 10-8.
Defensively for Roseboro, Fye at first base; Amanda Bowden, pitcher; Taylor Hudson, left field; and Jerrica Tyndall, second base, were all highlighted as standouts.
Bowden hit a single; Hudson knocked off three singles; Ashley Lane doubled; and Alexis Williams singled.
