Just released voting results from the Sampson County Board of Election show that Randy Barefoot, Carol Worley and Georgena Zeng swept the Clinton City Board of Education race, knocking off three incumbents.

In the county commissioners primary races, newcomer Albert Kirby defeated incumbent Malachi Faison in the Democratic contest, and incumbent Jarvis McLamb overcame newcomer Hubert Hall to retain his seat.

Neither Kirby nor McLamb face opposition in the fall.

In the Democratic sheriff's primary, David Kidd defeated Ray Self.

In the race for N.C. Senate District 10, Sampson County residents Dewey Hudson, Democrat, and Brent Jackson, Republican, beat out their respective primary opponents in Sampson County. Final results for Lenoir and Duplin counties were not yet available.

And, in the race for Sampson County Board of Education, newcomer Dewain Sinclair captured a seat along with incumbents Mary Brown, G.H. Wilson and Telfair Simpson.
