“The team played good defensively and the offense was much better,” said Sampson’s head coach Teresa Parker.
Sampson’s Brittany Cottle had 11 strikeouts from the mound and came up in the fifth inning with a home run to give the Dark Horses the three runs needed to end the game 11-1.
Additional leaders were DeAsia Edwards, Savannah Pope, Peyton Mitchell and Susan Jones.
No leaders were provided by the RSMS coaching staff.
Midway moves on
The Midway Raiders have advanced to the championship game today after stomping Sampson 13-5.
Midway’s Luck Clark pitched four innings; gave up four runs, walked two and struck out two. Tyler Pope closed the game, giving up one run and two walks. Pope struck out four batters.
At the plate, Matt Barefoot, 2-3; Taylor Calcutt, 2-4; Kyle Hawley, 2-4; Austin Hardison, 2-3; Cole Matthews 2-4; Lane Daniels, 2-2; and Tyler Pope 2-4.
Sampson’s Tyler McNiel went 1-2 and Wade Sumner, 1-3.
