ampson Middle School’s girls soccer team was crowned conference champions Wednesday after downing Midway 7-1.

“We completed our season undefeated, and I am very proud of the girls. They played a great game and worked the ball around nicely,” said head coach Dr. Gib Palmer about the Dark Horses’ win.

Midway’s head coach Eric Johnson also commented that he was proud of the Raiders fight on the field.

“The girls had a really good season and should be proud of what they accomplished. I am very proud of them.”

Johnson went on to say Avery Apperson scored the Raiders only goal.

Sampson was led in scoring by Hannah Smith, Erica Zeng, Leah Zeng, Grace Reagan and Lillie Turlington, all with one goal; and Tori Tyndall with two goals.

Other Dark Horse leaders were Caroline Barwick, Cara Marshburn and Liz Sumner.
