Man placed under $10,000 bond after writing host of bad checks

A Roseboro man is behind bars on at least 18 charges relating to writing bad checks at three local businesses.

Leslie Ray McClenny, 48, of 750 Old Brick Mill Road, Roseboro, was charged with four counts of uttering an instrument; four counts of forgery of instrument; four counts of obtaining property by false pretenses; two counts of larceny of chose in action; two counts of forgery of instrument; and two counts of uttering a forged instrument after allegedly writing a total of $495 worth of checks to Piggly Wiggly (Roseboro), Walmart and Lowes.

McClenny was arrested Thursday and placed under a $10,000 secured bond. He was also given a trial date of May 21.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, McClenny has a history of convictions dating back to December of 1982. Some of those convictions include: felony breaking and entering (1982); possession of a firearm by a felon and larceny (1983); jail escape, as well as nine other felonies up until June of 2005.

Obviously, this loser has been nothing but a leech on society. How about this time when we throw him in jail we keep him there.
