A 31-year-old Fayetteville man has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping and assault that took place during the early morning hours of Sunday.

Victor Arial Jaquez, 31, of 300 Bubble Creek Drive, Fayetteville, was charged with felony restraint, assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats after he was picked up Monday afternoon by officers with the Dunn Police Department, at the request of Sampson County Sheriff’s investigators.

According to sheriff’s reports, the incident, involving a 30-year-old Roseboro woman, allegedly began at the Peter Rabbit Club, off Willie Brown Road, near Roseboro.

The woman accepted a ride from an acquaintance around 3 a.m. Sunday. The man, alleged to be Jaquez, picked the 30-year-old up at the club and refused to take her home. The suspect was reported to beaccompanied by a unknown woman at the time of the incident.

At a stop sign, just outside of Roseboro, the victim fought to get out of the vehicle, but the suspect is charged with pulling at her and ripping her clothing, while the his unnamed companion took a lit cigarette and burned her in the right side of her left leg. The victim eventually made it out of the vehicle and escaped into a nearby wooded area and called law enforcement officials.

Sampson County investigators issued a warrant for Jaquez’s arrest early Monday morning. Dunn investigators picked the suspect up at his place of employment Monday around 3:30 p.m.

Jaquez was jailed without bond and given a trial date of June 4.

Now that we got this bit of drama out of the way, can we please move on to more important stories. There's nothing here but someone at "da club" who needed a ride home. If her butt wasn't at "da club" 3am, she wouldn't have needed a ride home from "da club".

Dear God, this is so ridiculous and such a waste of news
