A 27-year-old Clinton man has been charged with a first degree burglary that took place at a Roseboro residence on Feb. 21.
Jason Orlando Torres, 27, of 7581 U.S. 421 North, Clinton, was given the charge after investigators linked him to the crime that took place at 85 Allen Bass Lane, Roseboro.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a breaking and entering and damage to property call on Feb. 21. When law enforcement officials arrived on scene, they discovered that an audio CD, loose change and a $265 GPS system had been taken from a car sitting in the driveway of the residence.
After a lengthy investigation, Torres was identified as the main suspect. He was arrested at his home Monday evening and placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. He was also given a trial date of June 4.
According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Torres has a history of convictions dating back to March 2002. Those convictions include: consuming a controlled substance while driving (March 2002); possession of stolen goods (March 2006); possession of a schedule II controlled substance (September 2007); and two counts of larceny (June 2007).
