I took a few days vacation, but I am tired because I have been planning in my head for our big celebration on Thursday. By the time you folks read this the celebrations will be over, but we can still do things for our seniors since May is older American Month. So do something for the elderly in your community-individually or as a group in your church- Honor them in some special way. They hold the key to a wealth of knowledge from the past. Turn that key and be blessed with all that info. I Love it!!
Thanks again to Gosher Family Medical Clinic, and all the staff for the services you provide every other month. These services are much needed and appreciated at the Garland Senior Center. If you reader’s go in the clinic or you see Lynnette Britt give her special thanks!

The weatherization has new funds available to assist you in home repairs. Maybe you have cracks around your windows, bad AC, or your refrigerator runs all the time.. It may be cause for your electric bill to be higher than usual. For more info, call Marie at 529-3931. Just ask for help you never know til you try. As my pastor of old days said, “Ask and receive or doubt and do without"- call us and we will direct you to the right person.
Volunteer opportunities are available at the Garland Senior Center and all the nutrition sites in Sampson county. This is a great ministry and it’s very rewarding! Computer volunteers, sewing and dance instructors- opportunities are endless.
Now lets go to the Shade Tree for some remedies- From my favorite Woman’s World, use a sticky lent roller to remove dirt from window screens. Roll over the screen a few times, the dust will cling to it rather than falling on the floor. To protect your garden from animals- recycle old Cd’s or DVDs. put a string to the middle whole and hang them from tree branches-this will reflect sunlight. the animals will stay away. Its time to plant your garden so get the old almanac and watch for the right time so the birds and the worms wont eat your plants up. There is a lot of truth in this because I heard it from my Grand folk. My eye’s are getting heavy now so meet us next week under the Old Shade Tree at the Garland Senior Center.
