In response to EMS week, this was a wonderful event to all that was able to participate and congratulations to the children that won their bicycles with helmets. It was ashame that some schools chose not to let their students decide whether they would like to participate in such an event in what it stands for. Maybe next year the board of education can decide this for the elementry schools as a whole and not let one individual decide for the school within itself. Children also need education on emergency situations and what to do in case of an emergeny. Being involved in such events children are able to ask questions, look and tour the vehicles, be shown how and why equipment is used and when a situation arises they may feel more comfortable with an emergeny situation for it would not be all new to them. Emergency vehicles are here to help whether it be police, fire or rescue. Lets make our children aware that they are here to help and not to be afraid if a situation would ever to arise.
