Tarron Hodges, 35, of 8371 Roseboro Hwy., Roseboro, was charged with assault on a government official and resisting a public officer. Hodges was also served with the warrant that was related to an assault and battery charge from May 23.
According to reports, a Sampson County sheriff’s deputy attempted to serve the warrant Sunday at 12:31 p.m. at 27 Franklin Lane in Clinton, where Hodges was.
When the deputy identified himself and then told him what he was there for, Hodges allegedly became argumentative and aggressive towards the law enforcement officer. The deputy placed Hodges in handcuffs, reports state, and when he got him outside of the home, Hodges pushed the officer out of the way and ran off. The deputy caught Hodges, pushed him to the ground and then put him in the car.
There were no injuries reported in the incident.
Hodges was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center, given a $1,000 bond and trial dates of July 6 and July 28.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Hodges has an extensive list of previous convictions dating back to August 1993.
