Brenda Potter, pool manager at Royal Lane Park, said she was very excited about this year’s activities and camps being offered by the Clinton Recreation and Parks Department.
Senior swimming is on Tuesdays, from 9 to 9:45 a.m, and senior aerobics is held on Thursdays from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
“The seniors are very excited about these programs; we already have 10 signed up, with more calling wanting to participate in them,” an enthusiastic Potter explained.
Those classes are opened to adults of all ages.
Royal Lane has made a host of improvements for this year, including two brand new Stainless Steel Virgina Gram Banker drains. “This was our main improvement for this year, and we are very proud of them; they are a whole lot safer for the kids.”
Along with the drains, Royal Lane has added four new foam canoes and a host of inflatable tubes, all to make the swimming experience that much more fun for all those who come out for a cool dip.
Potter has printed swim booklets that give information on department programs and instructions for the parents and the kids about swimming. Royal Lane Lifeguards will also be going out to daycares that don’t visit the pool, to teach them about swim safety, rules and regulations and to introduce themselves. Judi Nicholson, director of Clinton Recreation and Parks Department, adds, “drowning is the second largest killer of kids, so it is very important for us to teach safety and methods for surviving if you do get in trouble.”
The public swim is from 12:30 to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Various swimming sessions are going on now, as well.
To sign up, visit the Royal Lane Main Office. Sign-ups will go on throughout the summer and into the fall.
