A quiet Sunday evening turned chaotic after a 10-year-old Clinton youngster became the apparent victim of an attempted kidnapping.

Sheriff’s investigators are currently looking for the man responsible in the incident and are asking the public for any information that could lead them to their suspect.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10:45 p.m. Sunday when two females, ages 10 and 7, were at the back of their mobile home, located on Rolling Hills Lane, when a man, identified as a Hispanic male covered in mud and dirt, approached the back door of the residence and attempted to lure the girls out of the home.

Sheriff’s reports show the man pulled the back door open and attempted to grab the 10-year-old girl. Her 7-year-old sister grabbed her older sibling, pulled her arm and didn’t let go. The unidentified man took off into the heavily wooded area behind the residence.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators combed the area but could not find any signs of the suspect. They are asking for any information that could lead to the apprehension and arrest of the Hispanic male.

To report a confidential tip call 910-564-5261.

Just so you know. There was no search of the woods because you and yours thought it would be a good idea to have about 10 different people searching the woods contaminating everything with human scent. There would have been no success with calling a dog out to do a search. Next time, stay out of the woods and a search will be conducted.

Looks like Lafus isn't the only one who should know all the facts before bad-mouthing a situation.....

Hmmm, no, cementeros, it's not my job to report the news. Doug Clark, Assistant Editor, who wrote this article, should have done a better job reporting this story. If you read the story again, there was no mention of parents or a responsible adult at home with these girls.

So, your beef should be with Mr. Clark and his slanted reporting. Not me.

Yes both parents were home when this happened. The girls were folding their laundry in the laundry room. If you know anything about doublewides usually the laundry room has a door.

I guess now we have to walk with our children holding their hands through our own homes.

Yeah where were the adults in the home or were there any?

I think the mud and dirt were used to hide the mans scent, must of had worked.

lafus_crickamus2 - My first thoughts were oh my goodness this horrible person is still running loose. He was so bold to just go into a house with all the lights on and everyone right there - who knows what he will pull neck time. What about the rest of the children that could be his next victim!

You should know the whole story before you go assuming the parents are at fault! Everyone was awake at home - the man BROKE INTO THE HOUSE!!! The younger sister could have froze in fear and she didn't! I know some adults that wouldn't have come to the rescue. Why not make a positive comment how the sister is a hero and not something negative.

Where were the parents during this? Were these two little girls left at home alone? The story didn't mention anything about a parent being home with these children. If there wasn't a parent there, why haven't charges been filed?
