Preliminary reports show that the incident took place around 6:30 p.m. Sunday after a reported verbal argument broke out between two people at the raceway, located on Buckhorn Road.
Shortly after the argument began, officials said, gunfire erupted.
One person died on the scene. EMS was called, but could not revive the victim.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene.
Details remain sketchy about how the suspect left the raceway, and investigators are on scene interviewing dozens of witnesses.
Reports indicated there were between 200-300 people at the raceway for an event, presumably a July 4 race, although that has not been verified.
