A traffic stop in Garland Thursday afternoon has led to the arrest of two Clinton on a string of felony drug charges and the confiscation of marijuana and cocaine.

Charged were Joshua Deangelo Carr, 26, of 95 Clover Lane, Clinton and Dorrell Orlandas Hendricks, 24, of 141 Sasser Lane, Lot 4, Clinton.

Carr was charged with felony possession of Schedule II Controlled substance (cocaine); felony possession of Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana); and maintaining a vehicle for the sale/storage of a controlled substance. He was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance July 23.

Hendricks is facing charges of felony possession of Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine); felony possession of Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana); and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also jailed under a $15,000 bond and set to appear in court July 23.

According to Sampson County Sheriff’s investigators, the pair were charged after Crime Interdiction Team members stopped them on West Second Street in Garland. A search of the vehicle, reports show, revealed a little over 136 grams of marijuana and 2.5 grams of cocaine, all of which was confiscated following the arrests.

Neither Carr nor Hendricks have a prior conviction, according to the N.C. Department of Corrections website.

This is why deputies NEED to do traffic stops. These types of criminals would not be caught if the only ones doing traffic stops were Highway Patrol. Good work guys.
